And I want to be your teen's Engineering Mentor.
Engineering has been a rewarding career path for me. Upon graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) with a mechanical engineering degree, I landed my dream job working as a Research & Development (R&D) engineer at Boston Scientific- a global, multi-billion dollar medical device company. I excelled in the workforce, earning a six-figure salary in just three years with many promotions in between.
But my journey did not start out that great...
In high school, I was told by a guidance counselor I would never make it as an engineer and I should go into social services instead. I doubted I was smart enough and "handy" enough. My high school did not prepare me at all for college, making freshman year my most challenging of the four. Through hard work and perseverance, I graduated with honors, obtained three internships, and a high-paying job offer upon graduation.
This is why I started developed the Engineering Major Exploration!
It helps students avoid the overwhelm and confusion over the different engineering majors by providing them with fact sheets and video interviews, in an effort to gain insight into what this career is all about. This way, they can make the best decision for their future.
