Hi, I'M MEAGAN!
And I want to be your teen's Engineering Mentor.
Engineering has been a rewarding career path for me. Upon graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) with a mechanical engineering degree, I landed my dream job working as a Research & Development (R&D) engineer at Boston Scientific- a global, multi-billion dollar medical device company. I excelled in the workforce, earning a six-figure salary in just three years with many promotions in between.
But my journey did not start out that great...
In high school, I was told by a guidance counselor I would never make it as an engineer and I should go into social services instead. I doubted I was smart enough and "handy" enough. My high school did not prepare me at all for college, making freshman year my most challenging of the four. Engineering Expectations Academy is hosted on a website with video lessons and digital workbooks. Upon registering, you will receive an email with a link to the website.
We believe learning happens best through participation and engagement, so our course is focused on giving the students many opportunities to learn through activities.
Students will watch a short video lesson ranging from 3-10 minutes and then complete an activity to immediately implement what they learned.
The lessons will teach the students the steps of the design process and the activities will help the students solve a real-life engineering problem.
By completing all activities, the students can create a presentation and submit it to be entered into our Engineering Design Challenge. Each quarter we select a winner based on the requirements outlined on the course website.

This is a self-paced course, so students can complete it on their own time, at their own pace. Through completing the activities and lessons, students will gain a better understanding of what a career in engineering entails and the skills needed to pursue this degree.
